    •  News  •  The new Serpentine Pavilion was officially opened on June 7 in London. This 23rd edition of the annual pavilion in the gardens of the Serpentine Galleries has been designed by South Korean architect Minsuk Cho and his firm Mass Studies. The pavilion, titled "Archipelagic Void," consists of five separate volumes surrounding a central, circular patio. The design is inspired by the "madang," a traditional Korean house with a central courtyard.

    The Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana has opened a store in Amsterdam's P.C. Hooftstraat retail district. The distinctive facade, designed by locally-based Dok architecten, draws inspiration from the image of a 'tough lady on high heels.' The facade's design incorporates sloping surfaces to create a dynamic play of shadows, achieving a balance of strength and elegance.

    •  News  •  The Marga Klompé building, designed by Powerhouse Company for Tilburg University in the Netherlands, has recently opened. Except for the natural stone facade, the 5000 square meter building is entirely constructed from wood. The building is named after the first female Dutch minister, who received an honorary doctorate from the former Catholic University of Tilburg in 1982.

    The multipurpose cultural venue will be home to Factory International, the organization behind the biennial Manchester International Festival (MIF). At the new venue, Factory International will host a mix of large cultural performance events, as well as smaller, more intimate performances. The biennial festival MIF has been taking place in Manchester since 2007 and is renowned worldwide. On the occasion of the opening, the premiere of the dance event "Free your Mind" took place.

After a renovation and renewal by MVRDV, the building also functions as a public attraction, with stairways along the facade and a viewing platform at the top.
