Emergency crews scrambled to the scene but sadly the man could not be saved. A man has tragically died on a Scots beach amid the heatwave. Emergency crews were alerted to the incident at Saltcoats beach just before 3pm this afternoon, Thursday, June 19. Cops say the 44-year-old man took unwell while at the beach but sadly could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

A man accused of gunning down Lyons crime clan lieutenants Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons in a Spanish bar appeared in court over the killings today. Michael Riley appeared via video link at Westminster Magistrates' Court following the deaths of the underworld figures, who were shot dead following the Champions League final in May.

Locals in Ardrossan, Ayrshire, were woken from their beds at around 1am and asked to move their cars away from the mast, which sits inches from a park.

A domestic abuse charity worker who claimed her manager pushed her to lie when she raised concerns about child safety has had her case thrown out by a judge. Hakima Taqafi worked for Shakti Women's Aid, a charity providing support to domestic abuse victims from the black and minority ethnic backgrounds. The 54-year-old raised worries about child safety, alleging her manager, Noha Rezk, tried to "cover up" the concerns to protect her close friends, who also worked at the charity.
