Oscar Piastri stayed out of trouble to take a win on the occasion of his 50th start in Formula 1, while also securing McLaren’s first at their ‘second home’ Grand Prix in Bahrain. It’s known as a second home race for them because the team is owned by Mumtalakat, the sovereign wealth fund of the country, with Bahrain choosing to celebrate McLaren’s win by changing the phone networks in the Manama area.

McLaren has been the team to beat in Formula 1 in 2025, but their car has not been universally suited to both their drivers. Oscar Piastri has taken two victories so far in China and Bahrain, while Lando Norris has only managed a win at the season opener in Australia. Norris was dejected when speaking to media after the race in Bahrain, admitting that he has not felt comfortable in McLaren’s new car since the season began.

Oscar Piastri reached a career milestone when he crossed the line to win the Bahrain Grand Prix for McLaren. It was a special victory for McLaren because they finally won in Bahrain, a circuit that is considered their second home race because of its ownership from Mumtalakat, the sovereign wealth fund of Bahrain. Piastri also completed his 50th race in Formula 1, winning his fourth race just a couple of weeks into his third season in the championship.

It has not been the dream start to life at Ferrari on track that Lewis Hamilton was expecting so far during the 2025 Formula 1 season. Having been disqualified from the race in China due to excessive plank wear, Ferrari went cautious at the Japanese GP before introducing a new floor in Bahrain. Ferrari’s performance has improved but it has not enabled them to get on par with McLaren, with Hamilton also regularly finishing behind Charles Leclerc.
