MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -A woman is accused of pointing a gun at a 9-year-old and pulling her into an apartment by her hair. Erica Beal is charged with aggravated assault, especially aggravated kidnapping of a child, aggravated child neglect, and theft of property. On Friday, April 18, at 4:55 a.m., a woman told officers that Beale pointed a gun at her and her 9-year-old daughter outside of an apartment on Mosby Avenue.

James Wingo was arrested by U.S Marshals and the Memphis Police Department on Front Street on Monday. He is charged with aggravated battery. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A 20-year-old was arrested and charged with shooting and killing a man. Deangelo Alford, 20, was charged with first-degree murder. On Friday, April 18, at 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a shooting on Ethel Street in the Orange Mound area. Officers found a victim. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say that the victim knew the suspect. Investigators identified Alford as the suspect in this case. On Monday, Alford was taken into custody and charged.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man was injured after a one-vehicle crash in Cordova on Monday morning. Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash around 9:50 a.m. in the area of Houston Levee Road and Macon View Drive. When deputies arrived, they found that the vehicle had left the roadway and hit a tree, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man was arrested for shooting his wife at an apartment complex on Saturday morning. At 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at Alpha Renaissance Apartments on Genesis Circle. A woman was found and taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police also found a second victim, but he was uninjured. Officers were told that the woman’s husband, Ahmad Sam, 33, was responsible for the shooting. He was out on bond for domestic assault and was not allowed to possess a firearm.

While both the House and Senate versions are being considered, they differ in scope. The House version targets MSCS only, while the Senate version would apply to school systems statewide.

Deputies say 89-year-old Annie Qualls left her home on Melwood Oak Drive just before 4:50 a.m. on Sunday. She does have a condition that affects her memory, so she may not know where she is.
