More than two-fifths (42.9%) of people aged 16–85 years have experienced a mental disorder at some time in their life in Australia, with the highest proportion of major mental and substance use disorders first emerging when adolescents transition to adulthood [1]. Worldwide, mental disorders account for 45% of years lived with disability in people aged 10–24 years, and 75% of depressive, bipolar and psychotic disorders emerge by the age of 25 [2].
