June 3, 2025The food truck Taqueria Gonzalez has expanded into the former Burger Time building on West 12th Street. Owner Ricardo Gonzalez had been using the parking lot of the vacant property as a base for the food truck last fall and again this spring. Another Mexican restaurant, Gorditas Durango, operated in the building for a short time in the winter. Now, Gonzalez has a full kitchen to use, and he has expanded his hours and menu to include breakfast and other entrees.

Shah Afrouzi has opened Voodoo Coffee Shop in a retail center at 1033 N. Minnesota Ave. He also owns the Shop N Cart and Neon Casino businesses in the same building.

May 16, 2025Newcomers to Harrisburg are opening a Japanese restaurant in the vacant Harrisburgers building. Samurai Hibachi & Sushi Express owners TJ Anto and his wife, Jessica Koenig-Anto, are busy remodeling the space, giving it a fresh coat of paint inside and cleaning up. Anto has been working in Japanese restaurants in several states since 2007 and most recently operated a food truck with his wife in Missouri. Before that, he worked in a Rapid City restaurant for 12 years.

May 15, 2025The new Ranch & Roost at Lake Lorraine has added Elevated Tacos to its lineup. Meat choices are chicken or marinated steak, which are grilled to order. They come in a flour tortilla with lettuce, Revo sauce, pico de gallo, queso and cilantro. Orders include three tacos, and customers can get a mix of chicken or steak. For a side, choose roasted street corn.

Carlos Salgado, who lives in Harrisburg, will open Breaking Burrito Restaurant in a new building that will be constructed behind the Starbucks that’s going up east of the Kwik Star on Willow Street.
