Current account holders are missing out on billions of pounds of interest because they are not moving their spare money into higher-paying savings accounts. Data analysis from savings app Spring shows that 8.3 million current accounts in the UK contain over £10,000, and four-fifths of those are earning no interest. Over a million accounts contained balances of over £50,000, the analysis shows.

An investigation into TikTok food retailers showed that these shops are selling food without listing allergens, putting consumers at risk. A BBC investigation has found people selling snacks and sweets on the social media app without highlighting the presence of the 14 main allergens, prompting a charity to warn consumers off the stores. Consumer group Which? has announced its best deals for June, with top picks for those wanting to buy a new phone, Kindle, barbecue or tablet. Those focused on new tech can pick up a Samsung Galaxy S24 FE for £449 from AO.com. The average price for the mobile has been £622 for the past six months, the company said. Which? said the phone, which is the cheapest in Samsung’s flagship range, was less than a year old, but was already seeing some “superb” deals.

The lucky winners of June’s Premium Bonds million-pound draw are from Edinburgh and Stockport, NS&I has announced. The first bond number drawn to win the jackpot this month was 103FE583469 and is held by a winner based in Stockport. The winner has a full holding of £50,000 in Premium Bonds and purchased their winning bond in November 2005. They are only the second jackpot winner from Stockport. This account holder has a holding of £25,361 and purchased the bond in July 2021.
