Outside of the courthouse, Steve Berman “hopes” that the judge will approve the settlement within three weeks after the recommended changes are made. NCAA attorney Rakesh Kilaru says he doesn’t expect any delay to the July 1 implementation date.

The final House settlement hearing is over. The gist: Judge Claudia Wilken gave indication that she’d approve the NCAA’s House settlement if changes are made to roster limits (possibly phasing them in) and the inclusion of future athletes in the class (tweaking language).

The attorneys have one week to respond to some of these recommendations that the judge has made related to (1) future athletes being bound to the 10-year settlement and (2) roster limits phase-in.

When discussing state laws that contradict the settlement, judge Claudia Wilken suggests that the NCAA “kick out” schools not abiding by their regulations. Remember, the NCAA is, indeed, a voluntary membership organization.

Judge Claudia Wilken has ordered the plaintiffs and defendants to “go back” and discuss amending the settlement related to future athletes being bound to the settlement, suggesting an adjustment in language that's a bit in the weeds.
