    There are obviously a lot of differences between lures for open-water fishing and ice fishing. On open water, you can cast as far as you want and seek fish out by splashing down flashy lures and covering a lot of different types of water.     The thought of wiring, compartment fixing and gas lines might make a weekender a little overwhelmed at just the mere mention, but in reality, this important step was actually easy and a step in which you could save money. When I first took the electronics panel off to check on the wiring, I noticed that it was stripped and drywall plugs were used to fill the gap to keep the panel attached. It looked terrible and kept the panel from being sealed firmly, so another project was born.

    I don’t think carpet needs to be 20 years old to be nasty, but I can tell you the carpet on the project boat was, in fact, quite nasty. Even before attempting to remove, I spent time both vacuuming and power washing it to get it as clean as possible. In the several months of traipsing over the dirty carpet working on other projects in the boat, I was all too aware that it needed to be replaced. Taking the carpet out was straight forward: Just pull it out.

    In any rehab project, there becomes a point when you have to be realistic about your skill level and what it would cost a professional to do it. Knowing this before you start that part of the project is key to both saving materials and making sure to line up a professional without holding up your timeline. So when it came to Part 10 of this boat rebuild, I was well aware that gel coating lids was way beyond my skill set.
