After North DeSoto dropped Game 1 of a best-of-3 state semifinal baseball series against Lutcher on Thursday, Griffins head coach Bo Odom wasn't overly concerned. He knew who was going to get the ball Friday, with the team's back against the wall. "We'll bounce back," Odom said.

STONEWALL -- If you're an obstruction/interference rules savant, the Lutcher-North DeSoto state semifinal opener was for you. North DeSoto baseball dug an early four-run hole in Game 1 of a Non-Select semifinal here Thursday. In the third inning, it appeared as if the Griffins tied the game after a collision at first helped a pair of runs score, but the home plate umpire called interference, which wiped out the batter and a pair of runs.

The spring game schedule for local local high school football teams begins Friday as Byrd travels to Neville. The action gets into full swing next week with games on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The spring closes with games on Monday and Tuesday, May 19-20. First year Huntington head coach John Simon is going off script for the culmination of the Raiders' spring works.

SULPHUR – There haven’t been many good days — perhaps none — for Greg and Lisa Franks since Jan. 7, but at least Saturday was different. Yes, like every one of the prior 116 days, an indescribable amount of sadness and buckets full of tears blackened the mood. However, there were a few smiles in the mix. Just a couple minutes after the Calvary Lady Cavaliers clinched a fifth straight state softball championship, the game ball was delivered to Greg Franks.
