David Hubber, known as Aitch, enlisted in the British Army in August 1990 at Scunthorpe, South Humberside. He served across a range of operational, instructional and logistical roles within the Royal Corps of Transport and Royal Logistic Corps, as well as in direct support of the Royal Army Medical Corps and Royal Artillery.

A new mural at the Victoria Embankment paddling pool will pay tribute to the facility's mascot after it was vandalised beyond repair. The frog statue was a landmark for the pool during its prime and a lot of people wanted it to make a return. This comes as the pool will finally reopen on Friday, May 23, four years after it had to be closed due to ongoing issues with water leaks. The facility then fell into disrepair and has not been used since.

The aunt of a teenager who tragically lost his life after entering a Nottinghamshire park lake has paid tribute to the "loving" boy. Valentine Ikechukwu died on April 30 after he got into difficulty while swimming at Colwick Country Park's West Lake. The 16-year-old, who was studying computer science at Nottingham College, had gone to the park with his friends after school. Valentine had tried finding a place at a college in Manchester after recently moving there with his family from Derby.

A Nottinghamshire man rammed multiple police cars and other vehicles while trying to escape officers during a rush hour chase. The motorist, Ashley Barnes, 40 and of Vale Road, Mansfield Woodhouse, was driving a stolen van during the lengthy chase around Mansfield. The van, which had a damaged door flapping around, rammed a number of police vehicles and other cars, but also went the wrong way in a roundabout and ran multiple red lights as the driver tried escaping the police.

Police have issued a warning after the rider of an electric scooter was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. The 19-year-old was detained in Ilkeston Road, Radford, at around 3am on Thursday, May 8, after a collision involving a taxi. The scooter had been rented earlier the same evening. Around 1,300 e-scooters were made available by the council at the end of March. Police have now warned that riders of rental scooters must adhere to the same rules as any other driver.
