    Yep, it's true the West Texas Burn Ban has been lifted, and it's time to light the barbecue pit and grab the meats from the ice-box. Just over a month ago, Taylor County and the City of Abilene went under a strict outdoor burn ban. On March 4th, 2025, the Taylor County Commissioners' Court unanimously issued the order to prevent wildfire disasters, especially as California was already battling massive blazes early this year.

    Let’s take a virtual road trip to Central Texas and pay a visit to Dublin. Admittedly, I’ve never been there, but thanks to the miracle of modern technology that is the internet, I feel like I have. The thing that immediately stood out to me while researching Dublin is the fact that there are four museums there (there used to be five). That’s a whole lot of history, and as someone who loves history, I’m all for it. The fact that a town with a population of just over 3,400 has five museums is wild.

    People are moving to Texas in record numbers—and Abilene is no exception. You might wonder what’s drawing them in. Of course, we’ve got Dyess Air Force Base, which continues to grow, especially with the new stealth bomber program underway. And let’s not forget the recent $500 billion AI project announced by the President, currently under construction right here in Abilene. That alone could keep the city buzzing. But there’s more. Hendrick Health, our non-profit hospital system, is expanding fast.
