On Dec. 14, 2020, legitimate members of the Electoral College met across the country to sign certificates declaring which presidential candidate won their state.

By now, the saga of the false electors is relatively well known. After then-President Donald Trump’s election loss in November 2020, loyalists inside and adjacent to his campaign concocted a scheme to have pro-Trump electors in key swing states cast their electoral votes for the failed Republican ticket.
