Key postsHide key postsGeorge Russell winsAfter all that, the Brit has won the race under the safety car – ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli. We won’t call it an anti-climax though, not quite, after what we just saw with the McLarens. Oscar Piastri, who we suspected may treat this as a “damage limitation” day, has finished fourth. The 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is on the man-made Notre Dame Island in the middle of the St Lawrence River. It only came to host grand prix racing after it had served its original purpose as host of the Expo 67 World’s Fair in 1967 and, later, the Montreal Olympics in 1976. It first hosted the Canadian Grand Prix in 1978 when, fittingly, Canadian star Gilles Villeneuve claimed his first win at the track that would end up bearing his name.

Commentators tonight for #AFLTigersSuns keep saying Hardwick sides haven’t won at Marvel since 2021. It’s not right. They beat the Dons there by a point in round 22 last year, and I remember that… for no reason.

Not a bad first 44ish minutes to not be able to see. Thank God for Cloudy Gakpo. #LIVLEI #YNWA
