In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions made a surprising move of doubling down on the cornerback position. With their first and second round picks in that draft, they selected cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw. Throughout last season, we saw plenty of Terrion Arnold. In a rookie season that saw him get tested early and often to start his career, he really started to put it all together towards the end of the year.

It may have surprised some people that the Detroit Lions opted to select Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Taking a defensive tackle may not be the highest of needs when you glance at the depth chart but the more you dive into the situations, it does make more sense. There's a lot of doubt on whether defensive tackle Alim McNeill will be available to start the 2025 regular season.

Let me be the first to say that I love the Detroit Lions selection of Tyleik Williams in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. That said, Williams isn't even my favorite pick from the Detroit Lions draft. In fact, the player that I'm most excited about is safety Dan Jackson from Georgia. He may be a 7th-round pick, but Jackson fits the Lions on so many different levels. For starters, Jackson is just a good, all-around football player.

The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is in the books and it was about as wild and unexpected as we imagined. We saw the Jaguars make an unexpected trade up for Travis Hunter and the Browns gained additional capital and drafted Mason Graham. Meanwhile, we saw the Giants build their identity on defense by selecting Abdul Carter and then they built for the future by trading back into the first round for quarterback Jaxson Dart.
