    As the great musician Alice Cooper once said “no more pencils, no more books,” “school’s out for summer.” The Sertoma Junior Golf Tour started off the summer with its Adult-Child Kickoff Classic at Pinecrest Golf Club this past Sunday with 47 twosomes taking to the links for the annual event. It was a family affair with many of the children being paired with their fathers, mothers, grandparents, sisters, brothers or other family friends.

    Not one but two Sebring Blue Streak football players recently signed to extend their playing careers. Favid Shannon and Ar’travous Pearson will both get the opportunity to play in college. Favid will hit the gridiron for the Saint Thomas University Bobcats and Ar’travous will put on the pads for the Warner University Royals. Sebring Coach LaVaar Scott said it best. “It is a great day.”“I don’t care where they’re going.

    Sebring hurler Tera Lynn Price is headed to play softball for the Dordt University Defenders. After starting for the Blue Streaks the last four years as a pitcher and middle infielder, Price’s dream of playing college softball has come true. According to MaxPreps, during her senior season, she had a batting average of 0.480, on base percentage of 0.581, hit a total of five homers, stole 16 bases and had an earn run average (ERA) of 3.75.

    Keiser University Seahawks is gaining one of Avon Park’s top athletes in Alex Roman. A multisport athlete for the Red Devils with ambitions to do the same in college, Roman signed with the Seahawks to be a wrestler. “I’m very excited to be able to transition into the college atmosphere and continue what I love,” Roman said. “I don’t have the words to describe it, but it’s a blessing and it is humbling to know I get to continue this journey. It means a lot that everyone showed up for me.

    The 11th Annual Chen Dental Golf Tournament was recently held at Sun ‘N Lake Golf Club. The event is a major charitable event that donates all the proceeds to Lindsey’s Wish, which is part of the Champion for Children Foundation in Highlands County. The competition took up both the Turtle Run and Deer Run Courses with 220 golfers hitting the links for the cause. Chen Dental covers the expenses and 100% of the proceeds go to the charity.
