I recall that after we went to press, following months of brainstorming, collaboration and hard work, the buzz in the office subsided and it was very quiet. But one day my office phone rang. It was Sheila Yellin, owner of Courtyard Travel. She had just received her copy of the new magazine. “I like it,” she said. NUBA, an “ultra-luxury travel agency” based in Madrid, recently announced plans to expand operations to the United States. The luxury boutique company, which is part of the Virtuoso network, has been in operation for 30 years; its new U.S. office is in Coconut Grove in Miami and is run by Carolita Urrestarazu, the head of business development. The company currently has a strong roster of high-net-worth clients in Latin America.

Hyatt Hotels and RLH Properties are rebranding Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya to Alila Mayakoba, which will mark the Alila brand’s entry into Latin America and the Caribbean. Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya is expected to suspend operations on March 2, 2025 and debut as Alila Mayakoba later this year. Both Andaz and Alila are Hyatt brands.
