A couple of weeks ago, I was on the campus of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, to conduct an interview for Church News. While I was there, I saw a sign outside a strength and conditioning room used by some of BYU’s athletes. The sign was emblazoned with a quote from Church President Russell M. Nelson.

I first met Elaine Michaelis in the summer of 1996 at a @BYUCougars volleyball camp. I was used to hearing coaches who yelled and flexed and intimidated. She was the opposite of all those things. She encouraged and lifted and loved. No losing seasons was not a coincidence.
