Much need rain has fallen across parts of the state recently, helping to reduce the fire risk. For some, unfortunately it’s too little, too late. Last week, a host of VFF representatives including President Brett Hosking and Vice-President Peter Star visited fire affected farmers in the Grampians. They were joined by Minister for Agriculture Ros Spence MP and community representatives to get a first-hand look at the devastation and hear from locals on the ground.

We’ve welcomed the for those impacted by the Grampians National Park and Macedon Ranges bushfires and is praising local communities and farmers for heeding warnings ahead of the blazes. VFF President Brett Hosking said while farming impact assessments are still underway, early indications suggest many farmers took early action well before the bushfires took hold.

The Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) has today announced the outcome of its elections for VFF President and Vice-President, as well as a number of VFF commodity group roles. VFF Returning Officer Brendan Tatham congratulated all successful office bearers as the future leaders of Victoria’s peak agricultural advocacy body.

We’ve welcomed the Victorian Government recognising farming as a priority sector to boost the state’s productivity, but says a clear strategy to protect important agricultural land is required. In response to the Economic Growth Statement released today, VFF President Emma Germano said a balanced approach to land use between competing priority sectors of the economy needs to be taken.

We’ve partnered with leading Australian farm safety software developer AirAgri to fast-track farmers access to new technology to enhance on-farm safety.
