BOSTON — Monday's Boston Marathon produced a beautiful day on all fronts for almost all who entered and finished the race, and it was a day full of breathtaking performances. Newett said in an email Tuesday morning he accomplished his goal of finishing. "I got my ticket punched for next year, received a nice medal and now have some nice memories with those whose paths I crossed on the run," he said.

ELLSWORTH — If the first high school track meets of the season are any indication, this spring is going to be a strong one for a plethora of local teams and individuals. The first meets of the season were held late last week, with Bucksport hosting George Stevens Academy, Bangor Christian, Sumner and Searsport on April 17, while Mount Desert Island welcomed Ellsworth, John Bapst, Foxcroft Academy, Narraguagus and Jonesport-Beals on April 18. kAmq@E9 >66ED 762EFC65 @FEDE2?5:?8 A6C7@C>2?46D @?

The spring of 2024 painted a fairly clear picture in the Class B North high school softball ranks as to who was the clear favorite, as Nokomis of Newport rode pitching ace Mia Coutts to regional and state championships. With Coutts now at the University of Southern Maine, the picture appears to be a bit murkier this spring, with many talented teams expected to be in the mix this season. kAmQ%96C6VD D@ >F49 E2=6?E :?
