The iconic jets are preparing for their performance right after the Air Force graduation ceremony. The United States Air Force Academy is reminding drivers not to pullover on I-25 or anywhere on the grounds to watch the Thunderbirds.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — Youth mentoring programs are getting a boost from the state. The Tony Grampas Youth Services Grant Program was established in 2023 to provide money to community-based programs that reduce youth crime and violence. A new state law has reorganized the funding so that most of the money will go to youth mentoring programs like the Boys and Girls Club. Governor Jared Polis says the state needs to invest its dollars in Colorado's young people.

    U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (KOAA) — More than 100 volunteers gathered at the Air Force Academy Cemetery to place more than 1,600 flags at the gravesites of those who have served our country. People came from all over the state traveled to help make sure the flags were there ahead of Memorial Day. Some said they have family members buried at the Academy's cemetery. One woman talked about the significance of taking part after recently burying her husband.

The campaign gives kids the chance to get books for free in order to start building their own library at home. News5 caught up with students at Rogers Elementary School in Colorado Springs Wednesday morning. Students got the chance to pick five books for themselves. Some of the top genres were fantasy and natural science.

    FORT CARSON, Colo. (KOAA) — A ceremony was held Friday morning at Fort Carson to mark the departure of the 4th Infantry Division's Command Sergeant Major Alexander Kupratty. As command sergeant major, he helped lead soldiers at the Mountain Post through several important missions, including training exercises in Europe with NATO.
