Barchester Healthcare staff take on gruelling challenge

A MALVERN man was one of a team of care home staff braving a gruelling 200-mile cycling trek to raise vital cash for charity. Paul Patchett, Head of Maintenance from Barchester’s Elgar Court Care Home, was one of the team taking on the gruelling Tour de Barchester cycling challenge, from Carmarthen to Wallingford in Oxfordshire. This was the third successive year staff from Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and hospitals took on the challenge.

Police appeal after spate of vehicle crime in Pershore

A spate of vehicle crime has taken place in Pershore recently. (Image: Canva) A SPATE of recent vehicle crime across Pershore has been multiple cases of criminal damage. Over the last week, reports have flooded in of vehicles being damaged and, on occasion, high-value contents have been stolen. Police have urged anyone living on or near Station Road and Newlands to check any CCTV or ring doorbell footage for suspicious activity between May 20 and 23.

A black, red and white Honda CBR 600 was stolen from Ombersley Street West. The crime took place between 10pm on Wednesday, May 15 and 7am on Thursday, May 16. Call 101 quoting reference number 00097_I_16052024 to report any information to the police.

COVENTRY landmarks and areas in the city centre will be turned blue this evening to celebrate the 75th birthday of the NHS. Areas that will be made awash with blue include Greyfriars Green, Whittle Arch and Christchurch Spire. Created in 1948, the NHS was the first universal health system to be available to all and free at the point of delivery. It now treats more than a million people a day in England alone.
Man charged after attempted kidnap incident in Coventry

A MAN has been charged with attempted kidnap after an incident in Coventry last week. The incident took place in Allesley Park on June 29. Coventrians warned about 'dangerous' e-bike cycling after city centre complaints

AN AWARENESS campaign to educate e-bike users has been planned after public complaints about ‘dangerous’ cycling in the city centre. This follows the city council’s recommendation that a public space protection order (PSPO) be renewed for three years from July 16 to help to address issues in the city centre. The PSPO aims to help stop people riding e-bikes too fast or illegally as well as address street trading, busking and begging.
Coventrian arrested following Bedworth shooting

A 25-year-old from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder following a shooting in Bedworth last week. The 25-year-old was arrested yesterday afternoon (July 3) at Euston Road Police Station in Leicester. A man was shot while he was with two other men in the area of Dark Lane and Smercote Close at around 8.15pm on June 26. The victim was found shortly after on Smorrall Lane with gunshot wounds to his chest and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
