DRIER AND HOTTER: The upper low continues to pull away and the forecast today features more sun than clouds and most of the state will be dry, but a few isolated showers are possible over northeastern portions of the state. It is warmer today with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Tomorrow and Friday will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds both days. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 80s to lower 90s across all of Alabama.

SUN, CLOUDS, RAIN, STRONG STORMS?: The upper low is finally on the move and it will be crossing through North Alabama today. As It does, the warm and muggy air at the surface, and the colder air aloft associated with the low, is allowing showers and storms to develop across Alabama. A few stronger storms are possible this afternoon and evening with gusty winds and hail and we cannot rule out a severe thunderstorm warning or two later today.

RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS: I can hear Karen Carpenter singing that 1971 hit today as the wet weekend weather has continued into the new work week. Occasional showers and storms remain in the forecast today and tomorrow as a very slow moving upper-level low continues to allow for the unsettled weather. It will not be raining all the time, but when it is raining, it could be heavy and produce areas of isolated flooding and the flood watch remains in effect through this evening.

The watch is expected to last through Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service has warned that excessive rainfall could lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas.

WET AT TIMES: The upper trough continues to remain a player in our weather, along with a surface low moving onshore along the Northwestern Gulf Coast. Widespread rain and storms are spreading northward from the Coast and clouds and rain will become widespread later this evening, overnight, and into tomorrow. A few strong storms are possible, but the severe weather threat is very low. Any strong storms will produce gusty winds and hail and a few isolated severe storms are possible any day.
