Pro-Palestinian protests continue on university campuses across the United States. While dozens of peaceful protesters have been arrested at University of Southern California, hundreds of police officers - some on horseback and holding batons - pushed into demonstrators in Texas. What began as a call to for universities to end investments in companies that support or profit from Israel's military actions, has now turned into stand-offs with university administrators and law enforcement.

World leaders are increasingly worried the security situation in the Middle East is about to worsen with Iran vowing to take revenge on Israel after an airstrike earlier this month. Several senior Iranian commanders were killed by the strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria. The United States, Russia and Australia are urging Iran to 'show restraint' and warning that retaliation could plunge the entire region into chaos.

The Senate inquiry into supermarket prices has resumed today, looking into the price setting practices and market power of the major retailers. The supermarket giant Aldi faced repeated questions on pricing and why it doesn't have any stores in Tasmania. While independent supplier Metcash told the committee the big supermarkets are buying land to stop their rivals from setting up shop.

Residents in New South Wales and Queensland are once again in clean-up mode after another flood led to mudslides and road damage across a vast area. In new south wales, floodwaters are beginning to recede, following torrential downpours which saturated rivers in the Hawkesbury-Nepean valley, Richmond and the Illawarra region. In south-west Queensland, the town of Charleville was cut off over the weekend, but avoided the worst of the deluge.
