    TOKYO -- The Japanese government on Tuesday approved revised guidelines to its strict defense equipment transfer rules, enabling the export of next-generation fighter jets jointly developed with the U.K. and Italy under the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).     TOKYO -- Japan is looking to create a post at its embassies dedicated to promoting international business ties, Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa said Monday, as the U.S.-China rivalry, war in Ukraine and other geopolitical shifts open up new doors for companies. Kamikawa outlined the plans to bolster Japan's economy through diplomacy in a speech to the Japan Business Federation, the country's leading business lobby also known as Keidanren.

    TOKYO -- Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa departed for a tour of Europe and North America on Friday, seeking their continued cooperation on security in the Indo-Pacific region even as they grapple with ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. Stops on the tour include the U.S., Canada, Poland, the Netherlands and Turkey. Kamikawa will also visit Finland and Sweden, which had long maintained military neutrality until moving to join NATO following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
