1. IntroductionBeverly Buchanan’s (1940–2015) site-specific environmental installation, Marsh Ruins (1981), once stood five feet tall (Figure 1). Now, its three boulder-like mounds sink into the wetland banks of the Marshes of Glynn in Brunswick, Georgia (Figure 2). The boulders exist in a state of irreversible decay.
