Source: The InformationYouTube has won the rights to live stream an NFL game from Brazil on September 5. This will be the first time that an NFL game will be exclusively streamed live and for free in its entirety on YouTube, the NFL said in announcing the deal on Tuesday. It will also be available globally on YouTube with the exception of Canada and certain other countries, the league said.

The service will bring all of ESPN, including all of its cable TV channels, coverage of more than 47,000 live sporting events per year and original studio shows and documentaries, to streaming without requiring a traditional pay cable TV subscription.

The company also reduced adjusted losses in the segment by $177 million compared to the same quarter last year. Paramount+ added 1.5 million subscribers during the quarter, ending March with 79 million.

Discovery’s revenues fell 10% in the first quarter, while net income dropped by about half, as growth in streaming was more than offset by sharp declines in WBD’s traditional cable TV business, which includes channels such as CNN, TNT and Food Network. WBD’s stock, which has been depressed for the past couple of years, fell 1.6% in pre-market trading. Overall revenue for the cable channels segment dropped 7% year over year to $4.8 billion.

Disney said domestic ad revenue for ESPN, its sports segment, grew 29% year over year, driven by airing more NFL and college football playoff games during the three months ending in March. Disney is preparing to launch a new, all-streaming version of ESPN later this year.
