A Kuwaiti-Polish archaeological mission working at Bahra 1, a pre-historic site in the Al-Subhiyah desert, Northern Kuwait has revealed a unique Ubaid figurine, and evidence of shell crafting and local pottery production from 7,700 years ago. The figurine is made of clay, finely crafted, tiny in size, and features an elongated skull, slanting eyes, and a flat nose.

Found on Pizzo Tresero (Valfurva) within the Stelvio National Park, the strange carvings were at the foot of the glacier of the same name. Radiocarbon dating and analysis pointed too the petroglyphs dating to the Middle Bronze Age, between 3,600 and 3,200 years ago.

Now, a professor and archaeologist from the USA claims to have deciphered it, saying it spells out ‘ Materan,’ referring to a Mother goddess of the Phyrgians, whose worship flourished in Turkey between 1200 and 600 BC. Apart from weathering and erosion, the monument is also heavily damaged from looters and raiders.
