Marketing controversy aside, Thursday night’s MicroMania’s West Coast wrestling show at a sold-out Journey Downtown in Vacaville was met by plenty of enthusiasm. Few in attendance seemed concerned with pre-show questions of the use of the word “midget” in the tour’s publicity run. The show is raunchy, frequently joking about sex and race and size, which the audience accepted and often encouraged.

Down by Dawn, a Pinoy Punk band from Vallejo, began in the high school bedrooms of singer/guitarist Jouz Aguila and bassist Aaron "Allen" Jacob Santos. Now the expanded group will perform music from their latest EP at a special Dads and Grads show this Father's Day. Down by Dawn has been a creative outlet for Aguila ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began just after he left high school. In 2023, Santos and Aguila recruited their friend and drummer Chris Uganiza to join and the rest is history.

Grace Jones, a popular Jamaican singer, model and actress, is not a new character for Ellington D’Ville.

As the graduates at John Finney High School anxiously awaited their walk out to Corbus Field on Thursday, they shared one overwhelming feeling. Pride. Clad from head to toe in their turquoise caps and gowns, the seniors checked their makeup and joked with friends before lining up as the graduation march’s iconic tune played over the speakers. As soon as the graduates came into view of the stage, families and friends broke out into cheers.

The Solano County Fair begins on Thursday, kicking off a long weekend of entertainment, shopping and fair favorite foods.
