    LETTER | It has been a long time since I made a wish(es) for a new year. My first wish is for politicians to understand their roles and responsibilities. Politics is a way that countries are governed where governments make rules and laws to ensure the well-being of citizens. Politicians influence the formulation of public policy, participate in policy-making, represent the people and formulate wise decisions. They are chosen as leaders but everybody has an equal say in the decision-making process.

In 2022, travel and tourism accounted for one in eleven jobs worldwide and contributed US$7.7 trillion to the global economy and Malaysia's second-largest source of foreign exchange income (14 percent of GDP). Positive impacts include enhancing the amenities of a region and supporting the community through economic activities, building community pride and identity and broadening community horizons.
