This year's wintry weather means the demand for road salt has skyrocketed. Some communities call it a shortage. Trucks lined up Tuesday afternoon at the Port of Coeymans, from places near and far like Buffalo, New Hampshire, and New Jersey. There’s more to this apparent shortage than you may expect. Dahn Bull is the highway superintendent for Clifton Park. He says the main reason for the shortage is just the frequency of winter weather we have seen so far, even though most have been seemingly minor.

Consumers across the country have been hit with a surge in the price of eggs with some reports showing increases up to 60%. The main driver has been avian flu outbreaks and for restaurant owners, this dramatic spike has created a ripple effect. Anthony Mitsios is the owner of the Pearl Street Diner and says that prices have "gone off the charts". For Mitsios, a case of eggs (that’s 30 dozen eggs) is approximately $203 a case.
