HIV activists have appealed to pharmaceutical companies to ensure that all countries across the world access lenacapavir, the twice-yearly drug that was proven to be successful in preventing HIV infection. The appeal follows a recent decision by HIV infection, the company behind the recent successful studies on drugs, to grant royalty-free licences to six generic drug manufacturers in a move to make it affordable in 120 low and lower-middle-income countries.

___________KAMPALA - Former Soroti University secretary Ruth Etibot Achimo has regained her freedom after the Court of Appeal overturned her conviction. She has been in Luzira Prison for one-and-a-half years. “I thank God and all the people who stood with me during this difficult time. I am grateful to God, my friends and all people who stood with me. The truth has come out at last,” she told New Vision Online after her release on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
