    In the 2023-2024 season, the Western Washington University men’s rugby team finished as Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference champions in both fifteens and sevens and were the College Rugby Association of America’s D1AA West Region runner-up in fifteens as well as the CRAA D1AA national champions in sevens. The 2024-2025 season began Saturday, Oct. 12, with a 55-0 drubbing of Boise State University at home, followed by a close 17-15 loss on the road at the University of Oregon on Saturday, Oct.

    The Western Washington University women’s volleyball team defeated the Western Oregon University Wolves 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 31 at Sam Carver Gymnasium. Coinciding with Halloween, the athletics department held a costume contest for fans in attendance, with the first-place prize being a brand-new JBL speaker. The last time the Vikings and Wolves met, the Vikings swept the Wolves 3-0 on the road in Monmouth, Ore.

    The first time I went to Pride, I lied about where I was going. I drove about an hour from my parents' house in central Massachusetts to the periphery of Boston's subway lines. In the station parking lot, I swapped my modest khaki shorts for a bright red pair with a much shorter inseam and boarded a train heading downtown. After a scoreless top of the first from freshman lefty Landon Welter, the Trojans offense opened the scoring early on a Carson Burns RBI fielder’s choice. Working with a lead, Welter retired the side in order in each of his next two innings with a strikeout mixed in.
