In our modern world there is a disassociation with the food we eat. At the supermarket, there is no longer a butcher, or fishmongers, and they’re even doing away with a bakery in most instances. A lot of food comes readily prepared, ready to heat and eat. For a lot of children, they’ll have never even seen these concessions in a store; their meat, fish and veg comes from a plastic wrapper instead. It’s really important to reinforce and encourage the connection to where our food comes from.
