Hound About Town, which has two locations in the Hamilton Park and Van Vorst Park neighborhoods of Jersey City, is hosting a party for pups this June complete with pup cups, friendship collars, pet portraits, and more.

petsA NYC-based nonprofit recently expanded to the Hudson County area, meaning Hoboken and Jersey City pups can now audition to be a therapy dog for the organization. The Good Dog Foundation trains and certifies therapy dogs who then visit people in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and more. The next round of therapy dog evaluations will take place in Jersey City on May 18th, with official classes starting in early June.

updatesSouthwest Hoboken is changing a part of the next phase of the Rebuild by Design Project, and The Hoboken Girl has updates on the work in progress. In mid-April, portions of Jersey Avenue in Hoboken and Jersey City closed, with plans to reopen in about a month. We now know that the construction is behind schedule, with plans to reopen the Southbound lane next Friday, May 23rd.

newsThe Jersey City Theater Center is raising funds to make its new permanent home a reality. This week, the Jersey City Council passed a resolution in support of the performing arts organization’s new groundbreaking building in Journal Square, which will be located at 575 Summit Avenue. While the full details are still being worked out, JCTC is currently raising money through its Hudson Gives campaign to support the organization and its new project.
