INTRODUCTION Mesoscale eddies are common physical features in marine environments that may lead to notable changes in oceanic biogeochemistry. Cyclonic eddies are associated with a negative sea level anomaly (SLA), an uplift of isopycnal surfaces, and upwelling of inorganic nutrients from deep waters to the deep chlorophyll maximum (DCM) and lower euphotic zone (Barone et al., 2019, 2022; Benitez-Nelson et al., 2007; Cornec et al., 2021; McGillicuddy et al., 1998; Xiu & Chai, 2020).
