ANN ARBOR, MI - A 4,500-member union of Michigan Medicine workers reached a tentative deal with University of Michigan Health, both sides announced Wednesday. United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals and the health system have an agreement in place for a three-year deal, according to a Jan. 15 release. The union cancelled a strike in November after reaching a memorandum of understanding with the health system. Wednesday’s agreement is pending approval by the union’s membership.

LANSING, MI - University of Michigan Health-Sparrow nurses and healthcare professionals struck a deal Tuesday with the hospital to avoid a planned strike. The Professional Employee Council of Sparrow-Hospital-Michigan Nurses Association announced the deal in a Jan. 14 announcement. The union cancelled a strike that was planned for Jan. 20.

A 15-member task force made from Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Flint and Michigan Medicine campuses will begin meeting this month to recommend updated policies and procedures for “new honorific namings of university facilities and spaces,” officials said in a Jan. 9 release.
