New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor is not somebody that shies away from his roots and that was evident when he made a return to Manchester on Saturday, June 21 to host the second annual ‘Chosen One’ Football Camp. Around 350 youths aged 6-18 attended the camp at Taylor’s old stomping grounds of Carden-Jarrell Field, where they went through a myriad of skill-testing drills.

The Raider Retrospective top five stories of 2024-25 countdown continues with the No. 3 spot. Last week, we took a look at the No. 4 entry, where the Red Raider football team defeated Blackman on a rainy Halloween Night to secure a spot in the 6A State Playoffs. For this week’s entry, we’ll take a look at an event that happened just last month; the Lady Raider softball team’s District Tournament Championship win over Lincoln County on May 8.

Our Raider Retrospective top five stories of the 2024-25 school year countdown continues with the No. 4 spot. Last week, I explained the rules of this countdown and we began the list with the No. 5 entry, where Coffee County took part in the TSSAA Wrestling State Championships in February of this year and had two wrestlers place in the girls’ competition.

It will be another five months before any high school basketball games are counted towards a team's resume, but that doesn't mean that the games played in June are any less important than the ones played in November. Both of Coffee County Central's basketball teams have been hard at work in the offseason so far, and that work was put on display during last week's summer camps at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.

The 2024-25 school year came recently came to a close for Coffee County Central High School, which in turn also means that no competitive Red Raider sporting event will be held again until next August. While the CCCHS sports teams continue to hold tryouts and make preparations for the 2025-26 athletic calendar, let’s reflect on the greatest moments from the previous year. Before we get started, we need to set some ground rules.
