The Lady Raider softball team celebrated their seniors on Thursday night, but suffered their first home loss of the season in a 3-1 decision to the Lincoln County Lady Falcons at Terry Floyd Field. For the first two innings, the game was a battle of defensive prowess. Each team rattled off three quick outs in the first inning and in the second inning, neither team could advance past first base.

Coffee County’s Olivia Vinson and Channah Gannon were both named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Girl’s Class 4A All-State Basketball Team on Wednesday. Both senior players have been an integral part of the Lady Raiders’ recent success, with the team going 67-5 combined over the last two seasons and reaching the 4A State Tournament in back-to-back years. It is the second time that Olivia Vinson has received the honor, having also been named to last year’s 4A All-State squad.

On Tuesday night, the Red Raiders honored their seniors in a pregame ceremony, but the Lincoln County Falcons spoiled the festivities by handing Coffee County an 11-5 loss. Scores were hard to come by in the first three innings, then the visiting Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a score by Samuel Smith.

It is the eighth time this season that the Lady Raiders have scored in double digits, but through the first three innings, it looked as if points were going to be hard to come by.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Raiders would be the first team on the board with a score by Savannah Cooper, who reached home after the Columbia defense failed to catch a pop fly by Jalyn Moran.
