He was known and appreciated, his loss will forever be felt going forward. Mike Norris was a native San Diegan who some remember back as far as Memorial Jr. High School. But he also had a life in Oakland and Sacramento, California where he spent his life when not in San Diego.

Warren, Publisher, San Diego Voice & Viewpoint NewspaperOn November 14th, this paper carried a front-page story about the treatment of Mr. Antwoine Bealer who is serving a 35 years to life sentence for an Arco Service Station robbery in Lemon Grove, CA, which he says he did not commit. His incarceration has been full of encounters with Prison guards insisting on housing him with known gang members when Mr. Bealer is not and has never been a gang member nor documented as one.

We should not think that life as we know it has ended. This is a defeatist attitude. What we should remember, especially as Black people, is that if we survived, slavery, and past Republican Presidents, we can survive four years of Donald Trump.

He was on his way home at the time that a Sheriff’s Deputy pulled him over because the Deputy had a radio call about the robbery. Mr. Bealer’s car was stopped and searched, and a toy gun and some money were found in his car.

This first day of voting was greater than the number voting on the first day four years ago in Georgia. Former President Jimmy Carter, who turned 100 years old a couple of weeks ago, had a dream realized.

Warren, Publisher, San Diego Voice & Viewpoint NewspaperBy now, the Chief of Police as well as the San Diego County District Attorney are aware of the Nicholas Hoskins’ police pretext stop, arrest and the impoundment of his vehicle after one of the arresting officers broke out his window. The video tape of the entire incident by Mr. Hoskins in real time clearly shows that he kept his cool. The encounter, supposedly, was because he did not come to a complete stop at a stop sign.
