A city in the eastern portion of the state has proclaimed itself the Quinceañera capital of Texas. Used interchangeably with quince, which means 15 in Spanish, Quinceañera is a milestone celebration in the Hispanic community when a girl turns 15, traditionally marking the transition from childhood to womanhood. Driven to capitalize on the momentum of all the Quinceañera events taking place in the town, the city of Diboll announced its new nickname on Nov. 15.
