Castalian Quartet (Image: Supplied) Anstruther is set to be the centrepiece of the East Neuk Festival's 20th anniversary celebrations. The festival, running from June 25 to 29, will feature a weekend programme of jazz, traditional, and guitar music across four of the town's venues. Among the highlights is Northumberland's renowned folk artist Kathryn Tickell, who will perform with her band The Darkening.

Sergeant-Major Robert Shaw, of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), made history on May 9, 1945, by becoming the first British serviceman to land on Guernsey after nearly five years of German occupation.
