The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce has partnered with seven organizations to bring the first-ever Small Business Solutions Summit to Thunder Bay this October. The one-day event aims to support, celebrate and inspire entrepreneurs and small business operators. Nancy Milani, the chamber's director of special events, said the summit is more than just a typical conference. "It's a launch pad for sustainable growth, takeaway solutions and meaningful connection," she said.

Thunder Bay businesses are breathing a sigh of relief after Thunder Bay city council approved changes to the Parking Authority Financial Plan on Monday. Drivers can now enjoy complimentary two hours of on-street parking throughout Thunder Bay, with an option to purchase an additional two hours at the same space. This is in effect until Dec. 31, 2027. Drivers will also have four hours of free parking at Marina Park with an opportunity to purchase an additional four hours in that same space.

Several groups, including First Nation organizations, are opposing Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s Bill 5, Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025, which aims to fast-track approvals for major economic projects, as well as exempt some from provincial laws. The bill, which the Ford government says is in response to the U.S.-imposed tariffs that threaten the Canadian economy, opens avenues to expedite major infrastructure and resource extraction projects.
