The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority in Escambia County soon will stop adding fluoride to its drinking water to comply with a new state law banning the mineral in public drinking water. ECUA board members will discuss their options for removal at their regular meeting this afternoon, beginning at 3. With nearly 100,000 water customers, ECUA is the largest water utility in the region and one of the last that still uses fluoride.

The University of West Florida held its annual Memorial Day ceremony Thursday. The event, presented by the UWF Military and Veterans Resource Center, honored and recognized the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military. Capt. Chandra Newman, commanding officer of NAS Pensacola, was the featured speaker. She assumed command in November of last year. In observance of this national holiday, she said it’s important to focus on its true meaning.

Dr. Marcas Bamman is a senior research scientist, who’s leading the IHMC team conducting the study, officially named Multidimensional Modeling to Maximize Adaptations to Exercise.

Marcas Bamman is a senior research scientist, leading the team conducting the study, named Multidimensional Modeling to Maximize Adaptations to Exercise. "We call it the M3AX Trial, and the reason why we call it the Max Trial is, No. 1, we want to maximize benefit," said Bamman.
