This essay highlights her investigations and writings that clearly exposed the terrible consequences of American slavery—especially its violence and sexual abuse.

    Single-player videogames in leadership learningAbstractThis article offers an overview and analysis of the ways in which first-person videogames can be effectively used in the leadership classroom. Specifically, videogames can be used to encourage students to develop the skills necessary both to analyze leadership and to begin to consider the ramifications of leadership decisions from the varying positions of leaders, followers, and collaborative team members.

    The Past as a Public GoodAbstractAt least since Adam Smith’s time, economists have acknowledged the benefits associated with specialization within the academy and within economics. Not withstanding this appreciation, they fail to appreciate the benefits associated with knowing their past. The costs of walking away from that past in economics have been substantial and have been substantially underappreciated.

    AbstractEnglish philosopher and political economist John Stuart Mill argued that people learn by choosing: this is how they become creative and productive individuals. For this reason, and because he felt that individuals are typically the most capable people to make their own choices, Mill was highly skeptical of restrictions on choice placed by a third party, such as the state.
