The ground jury of the 2024 MARS Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill passed all eight horses at the MD5* CCI5* Second Horse Inspection Sunday morning. The horses and riders will move on to the show-jumping phase this afternoon starting at 3 p.m. EST. This is the final day of the Cecil County competition. The 2024 MARS Maryland 5 Star cross-country day saw a field of 21 CCI5* horse-and-rider pairs start the course. By the end of the day, only eight had completed designer Ian Stark’s track of 28 numbered fences. In the lead is Oliver Townend (GBR) and Ballaghmor Class. David Doel (GBR) and Galileo Nieuwmoed, the only pair to complete the course fault free, jumped 14 spots to second place. And Tim Price (NZL) and Falco sit in third.

Competitors at the 2024 MARS Maryland 5 Star presented by Brown Advisory in Cecil County, Maryland, presented their CCI5* horses Wednesday afternoon in the First Horse Inspection on a sunny but windy day. They presented 23 horses who will contest the five-star event. The ground jury held one horse, Game Changer, who they then accepted when Grace Taylor (USA) represented him. The riders in the field represent five countries, including USA, Australia, Canada, Great Britain and New Zealand.

July 29, 2024—The Paris Olympic dressage Grand Prix start list has been announced. The dressage competition will begin with 30 riders competing on Day 1, Tuesday (July 30), and 30 riders on Day 2, Wednesday (July 31). A total of 15 teams and 15 individual horse-and-rider pairs will compete in the Grand Prix. Marcus Orlob and Adrienne Lyle will be the first U.S. Olympic dressage competitors to ride down centerline in Paris on Day 1. Orlob and Jane will compete at 1:57 p.m. local time (7:57 a.m. EST).

July 26, 2024—Caroline Pamukcu will be the U.S. Olympic pathfinder, along with HSH Blake, when eventing dressage begins tomorrow, July 27, 2024, at the 2024 Paris Olympics. They are sixth in the order of go and will ride their dressage test at 10 a.m. local time in Paris (4 a.m. EST) on Saturday, July 27. Germany will be the first team to compete. Its team member, Julia Krajewski and Nickel 21, will kickoff the competition as they ride down centerline at 9:30 local time (3:30 a.m. EST).

Will Coleman and Twizzel represented the United States at the 2012 London Olympics. He was again part of the U.S. Eventing Team at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon with Tight Lines. A career highlight came when Coleman and Off The Record won the prestigious 2021 CCIO4*-S Aachen in Germany. Continued success a year later led to Off The Record’s selection for the FEI Eventing World Championship in Pratoni del Vivaro, Italy.

Although Paul Ridgeon has sponsored Olympic eventer Oliver Townend and other top riders, such as New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson, he had yet to own a horse that had won a five-star. That changed Sunday when Townend (GBR) and Cooley Rosalent won the 2024 Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by MARS Equestrian on Sunday. They entered the show-jumping phase in third place and then jumped a double-clear show-jumping round.
