    McALLEN, Texas ( Border Report) - A man found guilty of human smuggling has been sentenced to almost four years in prison after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through a South Texas border town. Julian Alberto Soto pleaded guilty and was sentenced on May 20 to human smuggling charges, U.S. Border Patrol said. The agency says Soto led agents and Texas Department of of Public Safety troopers on a high-speed chase in Roma, Texas.

    HIDALGO, Texas ( Border Report) - Over $2.1 million in illegal drugs were seized in two large incidents at South Texas ports recently, U.S. Customs and Border Protection says. Over $618,000 of cocaine was seized Wednesday at the McAllen-Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge from a car coming from Mexico, CBP says. The drugs were confiscated after the car was sent for secondary inspection and nonintrusive inspection equipment was used, CBP says.

A total of 56,750 acre-feet of water was paid via "a transfer of ownership in Amistad Dam" on April 30, Frank Fisher, spokesman for U.S. Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission told Border Report on Wednesday.
