Abstract Importance New data and new antiretroviral drugs and formulations continue to become available for the prevention and management of HIV infection. Objective To provide updated recommendations for HIV treatment and clinical management and HIV prevention. Methods A panel of volunteer expert physician scientists were appointed to provide updated consensus recommendations for 2024.

Provision of buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder is often stymied by clinicians' concerns for precipitated opioid withdrawal. Gregory et al.'s [1] systematic review identified a low level of precipitated withdrawal with buprenorphine induction even among persons who reported fentanyl use. Evidence, not fear should guide treatment.

Flanagan Balawajder and colleagues1 conducted a cross-sectional national survey of 1028 jails from June 2022 through April 2023 to assess the availability of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and, more specifically, medications for treatment of opioid use disorder (MOUD). In addition to the large sample size, another strength of this study was that county-level data were incorporated in analyses to better understand communities in which jails were located.
