A 17-year-old high school student has been arrested for the stabbing of three of her classmates. The incident reportedly happened between classes, inside one of the classrooms. At approximately 10:15 a.m. on May 21, the unnamed suspect allegedly used a knife to stab three female students from behind without warning. About 20 students were reportedly in the classroom at the time. Witnesses stated that the three victims, who were all seated at the time, were stabbed in their shoulders and backs.

On May 12, police were called by a passerby who found an injured woman lying in the street. She was unconscious and bleeding from wounds to her back and her head. The call was made in Chiba, Japan at around 5:10 p.m after what appeared to be a random stabbing in Wakaba Ward. The woman, 84-year-old Takahashi Yayoi, died approximately 90 minutes after she was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Details about a 29-year-old woman’s personal life began to emerge after she was accused of–and later sentenced for– burying her newborn infant in her parents’ garden. Minagawa Kotomi, a former university employee and nursery school teacher, was sentenced by Japan’s Nagoya District Court to 18 months in prison, suspended for three years, after she was found guilty of disposing of her daughter’s body at her parents’ home in Tokoname in April of 2023.

A third-party panel that was tasked with investigating a series of scandals uncovered a star’s sexual misconduct that previously went unreported. The panel, led by Lawyer Takeuchi Akira was commissioned by Fuji TV to investigate a string of controversies involving Fuji TV stars, such as Nakai Masahiro. Earlier this month, the panel found Nakai, a former member of the Japanese boy group SMAP, guilty of sexually assaulting a female Fuji TV newscaster in 2023.

New details have emerged about a former boy group member’s sex crime, which he was found guilty of earlier this month. SMAP | Fuji TV In December of 2024, Japanese media reported that Nakai allegedly paid 90 million yen (approximately $568,101 USD) as a lump sum to an unidentified woman for sexual misconduct that took place in 2023.
