I am a terrible gossip, there are no two ways about it. I love a good yarn, and then I love the discourse fallout of the yarn. I will happily chat in circles about the same topic again and again with my friends. Sometimes I like to make myself feel better by stating that I am a journalist. After all, journalists are curious, we’re professionally nosy, we can’t help it. The thing is, though, I do this in private.

I have to come clean. There’s a secret I have been hiding for eight years and I am finally ready to tell the world. To the many couples who got married in a particular four-star hotel in Cork in the summer of 2017, I ate some of your cake. I wasn’t invited, and it wasn’t for me, but you sent the cake to the kitchen for cutting and some pieces didn’t cut properly and, well, I ate them. If your union is even half as good as the buttercream icing, I’m sure you are very happy to this day.
