RESULTSAmong 815 Olmsted County residents age ≥ 18 years who met criteria for incident RA in 1980-2007 and an equal number of comparators, 662 patients with RA and 658 patients without RA fulfilled inclusion criteria for this study, as outlined in the methods. Among the 662 patients with incident RA, mean age was 60.6 years, 66.8% were female, and 95.6% were White. The comparison cohort of 658 patients without RA was similar in age, sex, BMI, and prevalence of prior fractures (Table 1).
